- NUESTRA EXPERIENCIA EN TIGER KINGDOM - 

Traemos un post cortito para mostraros un vídeo con nuestra experiencia con los tigres en Tiger Kingdom en Chiang Mai, Thailand. Después de leer mucho sobre este sitio (tanto cosas buenas como malas), decidimos ir y verlo por nosotros mismos además de realizar uno de nuestros sueños: estar con un felino gigante. La iniciativa de construir este lugar fue para continuar un programa de cría de tigres que tenían en un Zoo, dándoles así más espacio y calidad de vida de la que tienen en los zoos. Y con el dinero que consiguen de los visitantes pueden mantener este programa de cría. Habíamos leído cosas no muy buena, como que era un circo donde los animales estaban drogados, etc. Pero también habíamos leído justo lo contrario, incluso leímos sobre algunos españoles trabajando como voluntarios allí, diciendo que eran tan solo mentiras y que los tigres estaban muy bien cuidado, y que eran tan sociales porque estaban acostumbrados a los humanos desde pequeños.

This is a short post to show you a video of our experience with the tigers in Tiger Kingdom in Chiang Mai, Thailand. After reading very much (good and bad things) about it, we decided to go to see by ourselves and to perform one of our dreams: being with one giant feline. The initiative to build this special place started to continue the tiger breeding program of a Zoo, by giving them more space and quality of life that they have in the zoos. And with the money obtained from the visitors they can maintain this breeding program. We read some bad things like they were a circus where animals were drugged and so on. But we have also heard about opposite experiences and even we also read about Spanish people working as volunteers there, saying that those were just lies and they take very good care of the tigers and the only thing is that they are used to humans since very young ages.

Así que nosotros solo podemos decir lo que vimos. Todos los tigres parecían saludables y felices y por supuesto ellos duermen, y cuando están profundamente dormidos no quieren despertarse para jugar con nadie (igualito que mis gatos en casa!!). No nos parecieron para nada que estuvieran drogados, ya que estaban muy activos y jugando cuando querían. Además, eran libres de elegir si querían ser acariciados o no y los cuidadores no los forzaban a nada. Por otro lado, todo estaba muy bien cuidado y limpio y los recintos eran muy grandes con pocos tigres compartiendo el espacio. Todo lo que vimos fue mucho respeto a los animales, pero claro sólo exploramos la parte visitble, así que solo podemos contar nuestra buena experiencia. So, we only can tell what we saw. All the tigers seemed healthy and happy, of course they sleep, and when they are deeply slept they don't want to wake up to play with humans (as my cats at home!!). We didn't feel they were drugged at all, they were very active when they want. Also, they chose if they wanted to be touched or not and the trainers respect their decision, they are not forced to do nothing. Furthermore, the place was very well cared, very clean and the enclosures were big with few tigers sharing the same space.
